Celebration of Glorious 30 Years of Saraighat Express

Under the able guidance of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Howrah, the Howrah Division of Eastern Railway celebrated the 30th anniversary of the iconic Saraighat Express, a flagship train service that connects Eastern India with the North East. The event was held on 6th July 2025 at the Sorting Yard Coaching Complex, with active participation from senior railway officials, staff members, and well-wishers.

The Saraighat Express began its journey on 6th July 1995 with conventional ICF coaches and diesel traction. Over the past three decades, the train has witnessed a remarkable transformation?shifting to modern LHB coaches and achieving end-to-end electric traction on 25th June 2025. This progressive evolution reflects Indian Railways? continuous commitment to modernization, safety, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

As part of the celebration, the coaches of the Saraighat Express were beautifully decorated, showcasing its rich legacy and technological upgrades. The event was graced by Sr. DME (Chg. & TS), Sr. DME (EnHM & Frt.), along with several other senior officers, who joined in commemorating this historic milestone.

The 30th anniversary of the Saraighat Express is not just a celebration of a train?s legacy, but a recognition of the unwavering dedication of Eastern Railway?s Howrah Division in upholding high standards of punctuality, passenger comfort, and operational excellence. With the completion of electrification and ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the Saraighat Express continues to serve as a vital lifeline between Howrah and Guwahati, fostering greater regional connectivity and cultural integration.
