Howrah Division Observes International Day of Yoga with Widespread Workshops and Initiatives

Howrah,The Howrah Division of Eastern Railway celebrated the International Day of Yoga with a series of yoga workshops and awareness activities organized across the division. The initiative aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being among railway staff, their families, and passengers, and witnessed enthusiastic participation throughout the day.

The main highlight of the celebrations was the yoga workshop held at the New Sports Complex, Howrah, which drew a large gathering. The event was graced by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Howrah,Sanjeev Kumar, along with President, Eastern Railway Women?s Welfare Organisation (ERWWO), Howrah,Reena Jayswal, senior officers, and their families. The program began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by DRM Howrah and the ERWWO President, Howrah, symbolizing the spirit of health and positivity. The session featured guided yoga practices designed to emphasize balance, mindfulness, and stress relief.

In a unique step to promote yoga awareness among passengers, an EMU train rake was specially themed on International Day of Yoga and designed with health-centric messages and visuals. This train, running as Train No. 37111 Howrah?Belurmath Local, will operate across the division as a moving message of wellness. The train's departure from Howrah Station was witnessed by DRM Howrah, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, and other senior officers, generating appreciation among commuters. Following this, a yoga workshop was also conducted at Howrah Station, attended once again by DRM Howrah and other dignitaries, demonstrating his continuous involvement in promoting employee and public health.

In addition to Howrah, similar yoga sessions were conducted at multiple locations including Gulmohar Railway Colony, Liluah, Bandel, Barddhaman, Rampurhat, Azimganj, and various other centres across the division. Officers, employees, and their family members took part in large numbers, making the day a widespread celebration of fitness and inner peace.

Under the inspirational leadership of DRM Sanjeev Kumar, the Howrah Division observance of the International Day of Yoga successfully reinforced the importance of yoga in daily life and demonstrated Eastern Railways commitment to fostering a healthy and holistic work environment.
