MASSIVE PLATFORM SURFACE IMPROVEMENT WORK IN EASTERN RAILWAY’S HOWRAH DIVISION FOR ENHANCED PASSENGER EXPERIENCE AND SAFETY

In an ongoing effort to enhance the travel experience of passengers and provide added convenience for elderly persons, lady passengers and children, Eastern Railway has initiated a significant platform surface improvement project across different divisions. This initiative aims to upgrade both the physical accessibility and overall safety of stations, with a focus on passenger convenience and station beautification.

As part of this project in Howrah Division, Eastern Railway has been working on increasing the platform height and resurfacing the platforms using checkered-style and anti-skid materials. This is designed to facilitate smoother movement for passengers, particularly the elderly, women, and children, while also improving the aesthetics of station premises.

The platform elevation and resurfacing work have been undertaken at several stations under the Howrah division, covering both suburban and non-suburban locations. Such increase in platform height and surface elevation work have already completed at PF 2 & 3 of Rampurhat, PF 1 of Murarai, PF 2 & 3 of Nalhati, PF 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 of Barddhaman, PF 1,2 & 3 of Chanchai, PF 1 & 2 of Nabagram, PF 3,4,5 & 6 of Masagram, PF 1 of Patuli, PF 1 of Dhatrigram, PF 2 of Behula, PF 1 of Lakshmipur, PF 3 & 4 of Balarambati, PF 3 & 4 of Mirzapur Bankipur, PF 3 & 4 of Madhusudhanpur, PF 1, 2 & 3 of Hazigarh, PF 1,2 & 3 of Dhaniakhali, PF 2 & 3 of Hindmotor, PF 5 of Liluah and PF 1 of Takipur Halt station in this financial year as a part of Eastern Railway?s endeavour for improving passenger amenities.

Moreover, work for platform surface elevation and resurfacing work is also going on at some other platforms of different stations at present viz at PF 2 of Kamarkundu in Tarakeswar branch line, PF 1 of Mayapur, PF 1,2 & 3 of Porabazar, PF 1 of Nalhati, PF 1 of Morgram and PF 2 of Lakshmipur.

Once completed, this platform improvement project will significantly enhance the travel experience on the Howrah division, ensuring smoother and safer access for passengers. The upgraded stations will also feature improved ambience, contributing to a better overall experience for travelers and commuters alike.
