General Manager presents Safety Award to 12 employees of Central Railway

Prateek Goswami, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 12 Central Railway employees with Safety Award in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai on 03.02.2026.

The Safety Awards were presented in recognition of the alertness, presence of mind and dedication to duty displayed by the employees while on duty, which helped avert potential untoward incidents and ensured safe train operations during the past months. Each award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and a cash prize of ₹ 3500/-

Details of the Awardees

Mumbai Division

Laxman Raghunath Jakhare, Katewala, Atgaon, Mumbai Division, while on duty on 02.01.2026, noticed a passenger falling between the platform and train while boarding a local train. He immediately intervened and saved the passenger from a potentially serious accident. His alertness and prompt action helped avert an untoward incident.

Pandharinath Soma Nadekar, Train Manager, Kalyan, Mumbai Division, while on duty on 08.01.2026, noticed smoke emanating from a MUCK Special train. He immediately informed all concerned and timely action was taken. His alertness helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Ranjit Kumar Yadav, Helper (S&T), Thane, Mumbai Division, while on duty on 08.01.2026, noticed a rail fracture at km 31/515 during routine inspection. He immediately informed all concerned and ensured rectification, averting a possible mishap.

Nagpur Division

Anurag Shrivastava, Assistant Katewala, Tadali, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 08.12.2025, noticed sparks emanating from EM pad of a passing goods train. He immediately stopped the train and informed all concerned, thereby averting a potential mishap.

Pradeep Nirmal, Helper (S&T), Amla, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 02.01.2026, noticed damage to tung rail of point 139/B. He promptly informed all concerned and timely action prevented a potential accident

Umesh Maurya, Loco Pilot (Shunter), Ghuggus, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 16.12.2025, noticed a rail fracture during shunting operations. He immediately informed all concerned, helping avert a potential mishap.

Bhusawal Division

Ful Kumar Gautam, Loco Pilot (Goods), Bhusaval, While on duty on 19.01.2026 on Train No. 12406, he noticed a Track Maintainer working on the track at km 774/11?19. He the whistle to alert him, however, as the Track Maintainer did not move away from the track, he immediately applied the emergency brake and stopped the train. His alertness and prompt action helped save the life of the Track Maintainer.

Rahul Chanda, MSM (Carriage & Wagon), Bhusaval, while on duty on 09.01.2026 during examination of goods train, noticed a defect in a wagon bogie bolstar. He immediately informed all concerned and prevented a potential mishap.

Vijay Suradkar, Constable (RPF), Jalgaon, Bhusawal division while on duty on 02.12.2025 at Jalgaon station, noticed a passenger falling while boarding Train No. 12112. He immediately intervened and saved the passenger from serious injury. His presence of mind and quick response helped avert an untoward incident.

Solapur Division

Umesh Ramesh Badar, Junior Engineer TRD, Kurduwadi, Solapur Division, while on foot patrolling duty on 03.11.2025, noticed a broken G jumper at km 373/08. He promptly informed all concerned and ensured protection of the track, preventing a potential accident.

Bhanudas N. Shelke, Track Maintainer, Arag, Solapur Division, while on duty on 30.12.2025, noticed a flat tyre on a passing goods wagon. He immediately informed all concerned and timely action was taken, averting a possible mishap.

Pune Division

Kanchan Kumar, Senior Section Engineer (P.Way), Sangli, Pune Division, while on duty on 14.01.2026, noticed a flat tyre on a goods wagon during inspection. He immediately informed all concerned, preventing a potential accident.

The General Manager congratulated the awardees for their exemplary devotion to duty and alertness, and expressed confidence that their actions would inspire other railway employees to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring passenger safety and protection of railway assets.
