NFR Strengthens Passenger Service through CEIR-Based Mobile Recovery

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has so far recovered 174 mobile phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, underscoring NFR commitment to passenger security and the prompt restoration of lost belongings. The process of tracing missing or stolen phones from trains and railway premises has become more efficient, as reports submitted by passengers through the Rail Madad App are promptly acted upon by NFR?s Cyber Crime Wing using the Department of Telecommunications? CEIR platform. All major divisions Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia have played a vital role in these recoveries, with a significant number of phones successfully returned to their rightful owners.

Across the NFR divisions, RPF personnel handed over 146 recovered phones to their rightful owners and transferred a large number of cases to the Government Railway Police (GRP) as per procedure. Katihar and Lumding performed notably well in owner returns, while Alipurduar handed over the largest number of phones to GRP. Phones that could not be immediately matched to owners were safely kept at respective RPF posts for further verification and handing over to the rightful owners. This systematic process ensures transparency and accountability in managing lost passenger property.

NFR continues to emphasize efficient use of technology like the CEIR portal to trace lost devices and assist passengers swiftly. The Railway Protection Force urges passengers to report loss of mobile phones or valuables without delay through RPF posts or the Rail Madad helpline to facilitate faster recovery. Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to providing a secure and passenger-friendly travel environment across its network.
