Eastern Railway Sealdah division opens Prafulla Dwar-A New Gateway for the convenience of passengers and as a tribute to Nari Shakti

Ushering in the spirit of Durga Puja Eastern Railway, Sealdah Division has re-opening the ?Prafulla Dwar? at Sealdah Station yesterday which will facilitate easy movement of passengers as well as puja pandal hoppers. More than just a new entrance, this facility marks a significant boost in passenger convenience and stands as a powerful dedication to ?Nari Shakti? (Woman Power) during the auspicious Devi Paksha.

?Prafulla Dwar,? situated on Platform No. 1, is a strategic addition to the station?s layout. It effectively serves as a new dedicated entrance and exit for commuters, particularly those traveling on the Sealdah Main Line. This new flow channel will play a crucial role in drastically reducing congestion at the main station buildings, a critical measure ahead of the massive passenger surge expected during the Durga Puja festival.

In a special gesture honouring the festival of the Goddess, the newly opened counters at both Sealdah?s ?Prafulla Dwar? and Dum Dum Junction 2nd entry have been made fully operational and are managed entirely by women staff. This initiative celebrates women?s capabilities in public service and makes an inspiring statement on gender empowerment. These new booking counters including ATVM?s at Prafulla Dwar and DumDum got overwhelming response from the passengers with the total no of tickets sold 7787 on very first day.

The new gateway is a one-stop-shop for enhanced ticketing services, immediately providing relief from long queues. The facility is equipped with nine new booking counters, including dedicated windows for women and persons with disabilities, along with three new Automated Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs). The introduction of QR Code Ticketing further speeds up the process, ensuring passengers can purchase tickets quickly and efficiently.
