International Women's Day celebrated on Central Railway - Women Employee Achievers felicitated

Central Railway celebrated International Women's Day with enthusiasm and jubilation on 09 March A function to felicitate Women Employee Achievers of Central Railway was organised at CSMT under the aegis of Central Staff Benefit Fund (CSBF).

The theme this year was Give to Gain emphasising the basic mantra of giving opportunities, support, respect, equality & recognition to Women and in the process gain progress, empowerment, inspiration and a fairer society.

The event started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Prateek Goswami, General Manager, Central Railway & dignitaries, amid chanting of Ganesh Vandana.

P P Pandey, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Central Railway and Chairman, CSBF welcomed the distinguished guests with plant saplings and presented the welcome address.

Prateek Goswami, General Manager, Central Railway and Chief Guest of the function ,felicitated and presented the Sashakt Naari Puraskar to Women Employee Achievers of Central Railway.

A total of 36 Women employees were shortlisted for felicitation from different departments and divisions including Loco Pilots, Private Secretaries, Technicians, Engineers, Commercial Inspectors, Teachers, Hospital Assistants, Section Officers, Office Superintendents, Clerks, RPF Personnel and Office Assistants.

These included 12 employees from Headquarters, 3 from Mumbai division, 2 each from Parel, Byculla and Matunga Workshops, 3 from Solapur division, 2 each from Pune & Nagpur division & 8 from Bhusaval ( including Division, ZRTI, Electric Loco Workshop-Bhusaval & Track Maintenance Workshop, Nashik Road).

Of the above, 21 Women Employee Achievers from Headquarters, Mumbai Division, Parel, Matunga & Byculla Workshop were awarded individually.

The Awardees included Smt Anuradha Roy, who was also the recipient of Outstanding Women Award presented by Railway Board on 08 March at New Delhi.

The Awards of Women employees of Divisions were handed over to the Divisional representatives to be duly presented to Women Employee Achievers by the respective DRMs.

In addition Bicycles were presented to 8 Dependent Unmarried Daughters and Sewing machines were presented to 3 Dependent Spouses (female) of Railway Employees as part of the Women Empowerment Activities.

Speaking on the occasion,Prateek Goswami, General Manager and Chief Guest of the function said that Central Railway has a strong workforce of around 9000 women working in different departments at Headquarters & across 5 Divisions. A lot is being done for Women empowerment on Central Railway, but a lot still needs to be done.

The Guest Speaker at the event, Smt.Anupama Pandey, author and TED(Technology, Entertainment, and Design) alumna gave a wonderful presentation on Discovering oneself & Self-realisation of the importance of Women in ones life.

Central Railway has the distinction of having the First All Women managed station on Indian Railways, viz Matunga, followed by Ajni and Amravati.

Central Railway also runs Ladies special suburban train services for Women. Initiatives like Meri Saheli & Mahila Suraksha ensure safe travel for women passengers and Matrishakti provides assistance to pregnant women including assistance in child birth on railway premises in case of emergency.

Principal Head of Departments,Hiresh Mina, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Senior Officers of Central Railway headquarters & Mumbai division, Office bearers of CRWWO and representatives of recognised Unions were also present during the occasion.
