General Manager of NFR Inspects the Mariani-Simaluguri-New Tinsukia Section of Tinsukia Division

The General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR),Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, conducted an extensive Annual Safety Inspection of the Tinsukia (TSK) Division on 25th February 2026, covering the Mariani-Simaluguri-New Tinsukia section spanning 152 kilometres. The inspection was carried out as part of NFRs continuous commitment towards strengthening operational safety, infrastructure reliability and up-gradation of passenger amenities across its network.

The General Manager commenced the inspection from Mariani where he inspected the Crew Lobby and Running Room to review crew booking procedures, resting facilities and compliance with safety protocols. He also reviewed works under the Automatic Block Signalling System and inspected the newly installed Large Format Display system aimed at improving real-time monitoring and operational control. A newly installed Solar Power Plant at the station was inaugurated, reinforcing NFRs commitment to sustainable and green energy initiatives.

At Nakachari, the GM undertook a detailed inspection of the signalling system, including the Relay Room and reviewed the functioning of the Electronic Intrusion Detection System and other associated safety systems. He also inspected Level Crossing Gate No. 102 (Engineering), a non-interlocked gate and emphasized strict adherence to safety protocols at level crossings.

During the halt at Simaluguri, the General Manager conducted a speed trial in the Mariani- Simaluguri section in connection with the proposed enhancement of sectional speed from 100 kmph to 110 kmph, marking a significant step towards improving line capacity and reducing transit time. He also inspected Level Crossing Gate No. ST-115 (Traffic), Point Nos. 31 and 31A at the Mariani end, the Power House, ABSS works and the Railway Health Unit. He also reviewed the condition of the Railway Colony and interacted with staff regarding civic amenities. On the occasion, he inaugurated a newly developed Railway Playground and newly constructed staff quarters for employee welfare and community infrastructure.

Further inspections included Minor Bridge No. 524 and interaction with the track maintainer of Gang No. 18-DR to assess field level safety practices and track maintenance standards. At Naharkatiya (NHK), the Traction Sub-Station (TSS) was inspected to review the reliability of traction power supply. Important Bridge No. 561 and Switch Expansion Joint were also examined to ensure structural integrity and track safety.

Such inspections are undertaken with the objective of reinforcing the highest standards of operational safety, asset reliability and service efficiency across the railway network. They provide an opportunity for assessment of track, signalling, traction and rail infrastructure, review of safety systems and field level practices. NFR remains firmly committed towards continuous safety up-gradation, modernization of infrastructure, adoption of green energy initiatives and enhancement of staff welfare and passenger amenities.
