More Than 100 Trips of Holi Special Trains To Be Run Over NFR

In order to facilitate smooth and comfortable travel during the forthcoming Holi festival and to effectively manage the expected surge in passenger traffic, Indian Railways will operate a total of 14 pairs of Holi Special trains over the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) for 128 trips. These special services will augment the existing regular train operations and provide much-needed additional capacity during the festive rush.

Eleven pairs of trains are already running from this February 2026 as Holi Special trains. In addition three more special trains will run between Tata Nagar-Katihar-Tata Nagar, Agartala-Guwahati-Agartal & Kishanganj-Lalkuan-Kishanganj. The details of these trains are as follows

Special Train No. 08181 (Tata Nagar- Katihar) will run every Monday from 2nd March to 30th March 2026, departing from Tata Nagar at 13:00 hrs reaching Katihar at 07:30 hrs the next day. In the return direction, Special Train No. 08182 (Katihar-Tata Nagar) will run every Tuesday from 3rd March to 31st March 2026, departing Katihar at 10:30 hrs and arriving at Tata Nagar at 04:30 hrs next day. Both the trains will run for 05 trips each.

Similarly, Special Train No. 05628 (Agartala-Guwahati) will run every Thursday from 5th March to 26th March 2026, departing from Agartala at 19:00 hrs reaching Guwahati at 09:00 hrs next day. In the return direction, Special Train No. 05627 (Guwahati-Agartala) will run every Friday from 6th March to 27th March 2026, departing Guwahati at 13:15 hrs and arriving at Agartala at 04:25 hrs the next day. Both the trains will run for 04 trips each.

Further, Train No. 05741 (Kishanganj-Lalkuan) will run every Thursday from 5th March to 26th March 2026, departing Kishanganj at 08:30 hrs reaching Lalkuan at 15:40 hrs next day. In the return direction, Train No. 05742 (Lalkuan-Kishanganj) will run every Friday from 6th March to 27th March 2026, departing Lalkuan at 20:40 hrs and arriving at Kishanganj at 02:00 hrs on Sunday. Both services will operate 04 trips each.

Besides operating special trains, NFR has undertaken added comprehensive measures at major stations over the zone to manage increased passenger footfall during the festive season. Additional arrangements have been made to ensure availability of safe drinking water, strengthened security deployment, systematic crowd management at platforms and circulating areas and enhanced passenger assistance through help desks and additional on-ground staff. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring safe, orderly and comfortable travel for passengers during the festive rush.as
