Sealdah Division Launches Massive Sanitation Drive; Tons of Waste Removed and Awareness Campaigns Intensified.

Kolkata,In a resolute commitment to the "Swachh Bharat" mission, the Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has undertaken a comprehensive "Clean & Garbage-Free Division" initiative.Over the last 2 days division has executed a series of intensive cleaning operations and enforcement drives.

The division?s focused approach toward waste management has led to the successful disposal of accumulated garbage in high-footfall areas.

Recognizing that Bidhannagar Road Station serves as a vital route with an exceptionally high footfall, division launched an intensive cleaning drive specifically aimed at safeguard the health and hygiene of commuters.

By deploying specialized teams, division successfully removed 1.5 tonnes of dumped waste from the station premises. This move is designed to eliminate potential health hazards and provide a sanitized environment for the thousands of passengers who navigate this hub daily.

The cleaning marathon extended to Tala, Baghajatin, Jadavpur and Majherhat stations where the division undertook the mammoth task of clearing above 5 tonnes of accumulated garbage. This restoration project has significantly improved the surrounding environment, turning a neglected area into a clean transit point.

To ensure that cleanliness is maintained in the long term, Sealdah Division is adopting a "Zero-Tolerance" policy towards littering. Following these cleanliness drives, strict monitoring will be in place, and fines will be imposed on anyone found spreading filth or littering the Railway premises.

During recent intensive drives at Santoshpur and Magrahat, ₹4,000 in fines were already collected from unauthorized shops found guilty of littering

To bridge the gap between administration and the public, Nukkad Nataks (Street Plays) were organized at Sealdah Station and other major stations across the division. These creative performances served as a powerful tool for social awareness, encouraging passengers to take pride in railway hygiene and refrain from littering.
